Car registration Plates and Product Serialization: An Analogy

When the first motor vehicles hit the dusty roads, there was no need to identify any of them, anyone knew the lucky owner of the “motor-horse”, but suddenly after few years the number of vehicles reached the 3 and 4 digits and the necessity to identify each of them bacame a priority.
France was the first country to introduce the registration plates followed by Germany in 1896. The Netherlands was the first country to introduce a nationally registered licence plate in 1898. All remaining countries followed, with U.S since 1903 and UK plates from 1 January 1904.

Since the beginning of the XX century until today we can clearly identify any kind of vehicle by its plate, link the vehicle to the owner and its address.Old Car PlateIn case of scheduled maintenance or recalls the owners can be reached easily and in case of theft the stolen vehicle cannot be used; not to mention police bills shipped directly to the vehicle owner.

We at Validactor are convinced that any product should be registered and clearly identified and have (and clearly display) its “registration plate”, no matter the size or the type of product. Moreover, we think that the customers should be able to verify the characteristics of the products first hand including any specific flag related to its correct distribution, legit commercialisation and in case of recalls the customer should be informed on the fly.

With serialised products, manufacturers can easily contact the purchasers and inform of any possible issue with that specific product.

Stolen products cannot be sold normally – if stolen – automatically they are automatically marked as such. Who is going to sell products that displays a graphic code that can be verified by any customer and that will report the product as stolen?
Will we be happy of buy and drive a stolen car? Surely not, so why we should feel comfortable of buying stolen or expired products.
Validactor serialization process is the most powerful anti-counterfeiting measure possible today, the possibility for customers to verify the originality is what really makes the difference.

Stay tuned on Validactor as the range of features we are introducing are going to change the way customers and manufacturers interacts with the products. It is a win-win scenario, be part of it.
